ELIGIBILITY

Any VSGA Member Club may enter a team of six female golfers who hold an active GHIN number issued by the VSGA Member Club they will be representing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. There are two (2) ways players are eligible to play in the matches:

• They have held their GHIN number at the club they are representing within the past 3 years (2021, 2022, or 2023)
• If a new member at the club they are representing, have played at least 10 rounds at that club by July 31, 2024.

ENTRY FEE/DEADLINE

All teams (six players) are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $1,200 by Monday, August 12, 2024.

• Entry fee includes course fees (including cart) for first two days of the competition.
• Teams that make it to the final round must pay the remaining course fees directly to the host club prior to competing.
• The VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice fee with host club.

 

FORMAT

Qualifying

• Each club will enter three two-woman sides each day.
• Each side of two will play an 18-hole qualifying round in a four-ball stroke play format.
• Twelve (12) teams with the lowest team handicap will attempt to qualify for the Championship Flight.
  • Of those twelve, the clubs with the four lowest aggregate scores will be placed in the Championship Flight and seeded by aggregate qualifying score.
  • All other clubs will be flighted by team handicap and seeded by aggregate qualifying score.
  • The Handicap Index for the day before the first day of competition will be used.

 

If all teams do not finish the round (e.g. inclement weather, darkness, etc.) clubs will be flighted by team handicap and seeded by team handicap, if necessary. For example, based on the number of teams that complete the round, some flights may be completed as noted above while others may be determined by team handicap.

 

Match Play

• Team winners for each flight will be determined by two days of four-ball matches (one point per hole).
• Team Captains will submit their sides (A, B, C sides by name) by 8 p.m. the  day before by an electronic form.

 

If any match is unable to finish all 18 holes (e.g. inclement weather, darkness, etc.), all points will be totaled based on the number of holes completed.

 

Championship Proper

August 26 - Four-ball stroke play qualifying round (18 holes)

 

August 27 - Round one of four-ball match play (teams that lose will not advance to round two of match play)

 

August 28 - Round two of four-ball match play

 

FIELD SIZE/TOURNAMENT MAKE-UP

• The field will be limited to 24 clubs with the lowest aggregate Handicap Index as of the deadline.
  • The host club will be included in the field regardless of aggregate handicap.
• A waiting list will be maintained if more than 24 clubs apply.
• Clubs may submit an "A" and a "B" team.
  • All "B" team entries will be prioritized by aggregate Handicap Index as of the deadline behind all "A" team entries, except the host club's "B" team will have first priority regardless of aggregate Handicap Index.

 

PRIZES

• The Champion team will have its name engraved on the Nancy Hollenbeck Memorial Trophy.
• All flight winners will receive trophies.
